Flushing, New York - In lieu of U.S. Open cancelling 2021 Arthur Ashe Day due to COVID-19, Don Victor Mooney wanted to keep Arthur Ashe legacy relevant in these challenging times. Arthur Ashe advocated the power of education and tennis.
Ashe rose from segregation and racial roadblocks to become the first African American male to win the US Open (1968), Australian Open (1970), and Wimbledon (1975). Mooney saw the need to advocate and share the spirit to never give up with children. Ashe would also join the frontlines for social justice against the apartheid regime in South Africa and AIDS awareness.
