ACI Prensa (2011) - Victor Mooney survived an extraordinary 14 days stranded at sea without food aboard a life raft. He credits his survival to the intercession of Pope John Paul II.
Mooney shared that the Pope had blessed him in 2004 during the international day dedicated to fighting AIDS, and he believes that this blessing played a vital role in saving his life.
"God sent his angels to protect me, and surely the Holy Father had a hand in this," Mooney stated.
This was Mooney’s third unsuccessful attempt to row across the Atlantic, a mission he undertook to raise awareness about voluntary HIV testing and to garner support in the fight against AIDS.
In his statement, the 45-year-old man from Queens, New York, expressed his gratitude, saying, "God sent his angels to protect me, and surely the Holy Father intervened in this."
